Description
The Hyderabad 10K Run is in its 11th year.
Hyderabad has been a pioneer for such events in India, with more than 200 towns/cities now having such runs. Every year the run brings together a whole cross-section of Hyderabadi’s from all walks of life. It not only includes a large contingent from top corporate and MNCs but also from various NGOs. Other than the 10K Run there is also the Maaza Run, 7 Kms, where the non-serious enthusiasts can participate even with children.
This event is organized from the People’s Plaza on the Necklace road in the Heart of Hyderabad around the Hussain Sagar lake. The route of the 10K is along a path in the shape of the heart.
The 10K Run every year is organized by the Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation. It is a "Not for Profit" Organization registered under the Indian Trusts Act (An Act of the Indian Parliament). The Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation is registered under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (this provides certain exemptions from Income Tax for the donating/sponsoring parties). This exemption under 80G has been granted by the director of Income Tax (Exemption). The Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation is also registered under Section 12A of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
The Hyderabad 10K Foundation has been established with an objective of promoting Health, Fitness and Sports. The Foundation uses its funds for supporting various causes including -
1. 10 Km Running race
2. Hyderabad Heritage Marathon
3. Go! 5K Women's Run
4. School Sports & Athletics
