Description
The Hyderabad Zoo, Nehru Zoological Park is named after India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
It is one of the largest zoos in India spread over an area of 380 acres. It was established in 1963 and is celebrating its golden jubilee this year, 2013. It is situated in the Bahadurpura locality of the old city.
It is a pretty well maintained Zoo and has a lot of visitors, more than 2.5 million per year.
As the zoo celebrates this milestone it is always open for support, incl. sponsorship of animals. Several individuals and organizations are involved.
There are a lot of Animals, Birds, Reptiles, etc. at the Zoo. These incl. Bears, Monkeys, Lions, Tigers, Deer, Peacocks, Hippos, Alligators, Tortoise, Snakes, Fish, Parrots, Fox, Ostrich, Pigeons, Doves, Bats, Owls, Cranes, White Tigers, Puma, Mongoose, Wild Ass, Nilgai, Indian Rhino, Langur, Baboon, Chimpanzee and many more rare & exotic species.
The train ride across the zoo and safari with lion, tiger and other animal encounters are a major attraction at the zoo.
Spending time at the Zoo with friends and family, especially children makes it an enjoyable experience.
Several programs are organized at the zoo from time to time to facilitate and better understanding between the animals and visitors.
