Hyderabad:
Representatives of both TS and AP on Friday informed the Krishna River
Management Board that they will discuss the issue of continuing with the
water sharing agreement reached last year or not with the governments
of their respective states.
The KRMB meeting was convened explicitly to decide on the sharing of
water between the two states ahead of the monsoon soon. Last year, the
two governments had entered into an agreement for sharing 811 tmc ft of
Krishna water allotted to undivided AP (512 tmc ft to AP and 299 tmc ft
to TS). However, the agreement’s validity was limited to only one year.
The Board meeting also thanked the retiring Chairman S.A. Nathan and
passed a resolution praising his services. KRMB secretary R.K. Gupta
informed the representatives that a meeting will be convened during the
monsoon over water sharing and hoped that by that time, they would take a
decision.
