Naveen Babu Ghanta (born 24 Feb 1984),[1] better known by his stage name Nani, is an Telugu movie actor in mainly Telugu movies, along with Tamil movies. After his education, he became an associate director and worked with Srinu Vaitla and Bapu, before working as an RJ for World Space Satellite tv in Hyderabad. An advertisement, featuring him, led to his first acting assignment in Ashta Chamma.

Personal life

Nani was born and brought up in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. He did his education from St. Alphonsa's High School and studied in Narayana Junior College, S.R Nagar before graduating from Wesley’s. Nani, who got engaged on 12 Aug 2012, to his girlfriend of five years, Anjana Yelavarthy. Speaking to Hyderabad Times, the actor says, "We exchanged rings in a simple ceremony in Vizag that was attended by both our families. His wedding with Anjana was held on 27 October 2012, in a private ceremony in Vizag.

Career

During his graduating, Nani got "addicted to movies", citing Mani Ratnam as a big impact on him. He desired to become a director; thanks to producer Anil, who was a far away comparative of his, Nani could join director Bapu as a "clap director" for the film Radha Gopalam that Anil was producing at that time. He then worked for films such as Allari Bullodu, Dhee and Asthram.

Nani took a sabbatical to perform on a film program. Nandini Reddy, a friend who was then working as a radio jockey for Globe Area Satellite tv, offered Nani perform as an RJ. accepted and worked for one year, did a program known as "Non-Stop Nani". He was offered the film Ashta Chamma also featuring Swati Reddy, when the film's director Mohan Krishna Indraganti observed him in an advertisement. His second film Ride was produced by Bellamkonda Suresh. His first release in 2011 Ala Modalaindi was a romantic comedy written and directed by Nandini Reddy who was his best friend. It was told that many of the scenes in the movie are inspired from the life of Nani and Nandini Reddy. Nani's performance in the film received positive reviews, with critics noting that he was "completely natural" and "living [his] role".

At the same time he did a Tamil movie veppam with his buddy Anjana as movie director. This 2011 another Nani's movie Pilla Zamindar was released. Nani and Srinivas Avasarala are once again seen together in this movie after Ashta Chemma. Nani's newest launch was S. S. Rajamouli's stay activity venture Eega which was a megahit. His latest movie as of delayed 2012 that hit the screens was Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu opposite Samantha. Currently, Nani is dealing with innovative movie director Pasupuleti Krishna Vamsi for the movie Paisa and with Samuthirakani for the movie Janda Pai Kapiraju.
