Paigah nobles promoted art, literature and sports and enjoyed great respect in Hyderabad society. They constructed several beautiful palaces in the city, notable among them were Devdi of Sir Asman Jah, Khurshid Jah Palace, Viqar-ul-Umara Palace and Basheer Bagh Palace. The famous Falaknurria Palace was constructed by one of the Paigah nobles Sir Viqaru l-Umara and was purchased by Nizam VI. Nawab Moin-ud-Daula Bahadur, one of the leading Paigah nobles, was very fond of hunting and sports, particularly cricket. He donated a gold cup for cricket, and the tournament is still conçlucted in his name.
In 1911 due to mismanagement and overspending the Paigah estate was placed under the Court of Ward by the Nizam, and Sir Brian Egerton, tutor to Nizam VII. was made Sadar-ul-Muham or Minister in charge of the Paigahs and after his retirement Nawab Aqeel Jung was appointed in his place. The accumulated debts were gradually paid off and the Paigah Jagir administration was again handed over to the family.
