Near the Plassey Lines in Bowenpally, Secunderabad, is a mute testimony to the daring exploits of an intrepid horseman, Lt. John Moore, and his mount Sultan. A tablet on the grave recalls Moore and the horse, Both died while jumping over a step-well close to that spot way back in July 1807. An accomplished rider, Moore, then only 26, jumped the horse over the well daily but failed and fell into the well on that fateful day when the General Officer Commanding, Madras Area, had come to see the breathtaking feat. The horse was interred alongside his master, respecting the last wish of Lt. Moore.
