Situated close to Purana Pul, this Masjid is one of the most interesting mosques within the city. Massive yet delicate, like all the Qutb Shahi mosques, it stands at one end of a squarish courtyard in an atmosphere of peace. Built in 1678, this mosque bears the name of its builder, Malik Miyan Mishk, an Abyssinian slave of Abul Hasan Tana Shah.
Malik Mishk held the office of Secretary, Commander and Keeper of the Royal Key. His grave is situated near the eastern end of the old bridge in a spacious enclosure. He died in the year 1680. Adjacent to the mosque are the Caravan Sarai and the bath which were built by him and are still intact. The Turkish bath is in a good condition with marble tubs and arrangements for massage.
The numerous inscriptions on the gateways and doorways of the mosque reflect the different stages of calligraphy at different periods. Miyan Mishk also constructed a palace in Atapur village near Himayath Sagar which is now in ruins.
