Mir Momin of Astrabad came here from Persia during the reign of Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. He was made the Peshwa in 1585 and held the post for almost twenty-five years. Mir Momin was held in great esteem on account of his learning, piety, and poetry. He was also an architect and lover of culture. He was directly associated with 4he layout of the city of Hyderabad and a number of edifices, both civil and religious. He left a lasting mark on the culture of Hyderabad. It was said of him that “He was like the invisible man bringing his powerful personality to bear on the major policies of the state and on almost all walks of life in which he was interested.”
Mir Momin died in 1625 and near the steps of his mausoleum was buried Mirza Ahmed Niamath Khan Ali, the famous poet of Emperor Aurangzeb. (Please refer Daira Mir Momin) Dr. Zore,a well-known historian, has written a book on Mir Momin.
